According to KOIN News in Portland, Ore., an Amboy, Wa. man and his children discovered a buried parachute while plowing to make a road.
Authorities, including investigators for the FBI, suspect the parachute belonged to D.B. Cooper, the mysterious skyjacker that made off with a $200,000 ransom on the day before Thanksgiving way back in 1971.
So, assuming the chute is Cooper's, here's my take: A buried parachute seems to contradict the FBI's longstanding belief that Cooper didn't survive his jump. I don't think that parachute buried itself. Search crews combed Cooper's projected jump zone and surrounding areas, and it seems like they would have found a parachute had it not been hidden.
I think D.B. Cooper survived and got away with his crime.
